2008 wants

Well, specifically 'want' singular. 'Cos right now, off the top of my head all I can think of to look forward to is GTA IV. The game we should have been playing last October is now not out until late April.

I'm not sure why I'm looking forward to it so much as I am. Partly I think I hyped myself up last year to play it, and the delay really wasn't expected. I let the anticipation of the first 'next-gen' GTA get the better of me.

Perhaps it's because I still haven't seen anything that comes close to a GTA experience yet. Crackdown was close (and I never got around to finishing it); I didn't get along with the hyper-ebonic style of Saints Row. I guess the game's history also plays a part in my perception of it, to the detriment of similar games.

However I don't mind the five months to go before it's release, which must be a sign of my age. 10 years ago I would be counting down every game's release date by the second, but now I'm far more relaxed abut the whole affair. I've got so many games still left to finish, and so many games that I missed first time around now hitting bargain-bins, that time between the really big games doesn't drag as it once did.
